Prayer should be the key to the day and the lock to the night.
"For each new morning with its light, For rest and shelter of the night, For health and food, For love and friends, For everything Thy goodness sends." ~~Ralph Waldo Emerson
Thank You for the food we eat. Thank You for the friends we meet. Help us Lord, to not forget - quietness, kindness and respect.
We thank the Lord above for this our daily bread. For His hand feeds us all, but much more He does bestow - a land where we are free to become all that we can be. A land where families may join without fear and thank Him one by one, each of us in our own way. Bless and keep us all dear Lord. A-men.
For food to eat, good things to drink, for hearts to feel and minds to think, we give Thee thanks, oh Lord.
For food to eat and milk to drink, for home and friends and minds to think, for all that tells us of your care, we thank You, God - help us to share.
Gracious Giver of All Good, Thee we thank for rest and food. Grant in all we do and say, with thankfulness live this lovely day.
Note: The following grace was said by nurses in a civilian hospital in wartime England, 1940:
We thank the Lord for what we have. For a little more, we would be glad. But as food's so short and times so rough, we thank the Lord we have enough.
We walk up to the table, we see the good food there. We thank our Heavenly Father before we take our share. A-men.
For food to eat and loving care, for happy homes and freedom here, we thank You, heavenly Father.
We thank Thee for the privilege of being together here. Be near to each one of us. Bless this food to our use and the ones who prepared it and Dear Heavenly Father, give us the aid of Thy Holy Spirit to guide us. We ask in Jesus' name, A-men.
Creator and Giver of life, You make the sun to shine on the good and the bad alike. You send the rain to water the earth. Thank You for giving us this food and all good gifts, not according to our shortcomings, but according to Your boundless grace and mercy. As we eat and drink together, so fill us with Your love that we may love one another as You love us. A-men.
Great God, the Giver of all food, accept our praise and bless our food. Grace, health and strength to us afford, through Jesus Christ, our Blessed Lord.
Lord, behold our family here assembled. We thank You for the food we are about to eat, for the home in which we dwell, for the love that unites us, for the peace given to us this day. We ask that You give us courage, gaiety and a quiet mind that we may be temperate in wrath, constant in faith and to the gates of Heaven, loyal and loving to one another. Amen.
May the meals, which we share, be sprinkled from above with Thy blessings and Thy grace, but most of all, with Thy love.
Thank You for this food, but before I take a bite, I pray that one less child goes to bed hungry tonight.
Thank you, Jesus, for our food and for our home so fair. Help us, Lord, to do some good and keep us in Your care. And bless our loved ones everywhere. A-men.
Our health is given by this food; our food, dear Lord, comes by Thy grace. Our thanks we offer in return at every meal, in every place.
God gives us the ingredients, but He doesn't give us the recipe.
