Appetizer or Value Meal?
With the Burger King Cravers added to the menu, consumers were given the option of having an appetizer before their meal or creating their own value meal with a combination of 99 cents items.
In nutrition reality, the new Burger King Craver additions are nothing more than fatty cheese (mozzarella for the Mozzarella Sticks and cheddar for the Jalapeno Poppers) encased in a deep-fried coating. They come in four-piece packs with dipping sauce on the side.
The General Burger King Cravers Description
"The Mozzarella Sticks are crunchy on the outside, filled with oozing melted cheese and served with a side of delicious marinara sauce for dipping. The spicy jalapeno poppers(R) come with a cool Ranch dressing on the side."
Burger King Cravers Nutrition Information
Four pieces may not look like much, but the Sticks and their Marinara Sauce deliver 310 calories, 16 grams of fat (6 of them saturated), and 950 milligrams of sodium.
The Poppers and their Ranch Sauce pack 350 calories, 26 grams of fat (seven of them saturated), and 890 milligrams of sodium.
That makes them as bad for your waistline and blood pressure as eight strips of bacon. And they're even worse than bacon for your heart, since Burger King's saturated fat numbers don't include the artery-clogging trans fat in its breading and its frying oil.
