Just a Handful of Vitamins
The nutrition from these bars comes from the handful of vitamins and minerals General Mills adds to these glorified Rice Krispies Treats.
Nutritional Break Down
- Food Quantity: 1 bar.
- Carbs: 21g.
- Dietary Fiber: 0.5g.
- Net Carbs: 20.5g.
Too Much of the Sweet Stuff
The milk filling in these bars consists of mostly sugar plus nonfat milk, lactose, palm kernel oil and other food additives.
In addition, they contain 13 grams of sugar and zero fiber.
Bars that contain a lot of sugar will be high on the Glycemic Index, which means they can cause a rapid rise in blood glucose levels, leading to excessive insulin production and a sudden drop in blood sugar.
While cereal bars can be very convenient, and also provide a useful energy-burst, they may not be the best idea if you're trying to lose weight. Keep your intake of foods like Cheerios Milk 'n' Cereal Bar, to a sensible level.
Some wholegrain cereal bars are more nutritious, with a higher dietary fiber content and less sugar.
