Enhanced Water

Glaceau Vitamin Water is a water-based beverage that contains a blend of flavored water enhanced with different blends of vitamins.

A 20 ounce bottle of Glaceau Vitamin Water contains 2.5 servings. At 50 calories per serving, the total calories for this beverage are 125, with zero grams of fat and no sodium. There 13 grams of sugar, however, which accounts for 4% of the recommended daily intake for carbohydrates.

Glaceau Vitamin Water's Defense Lemon Ice seems to target people who want to boost their immune systems. However, there is no solid evidence that the ingredients (zinc, vitamin C, echinacea and arabinogalactan) can prevent colds, the flu, or other infections.

If you have a cold, the echinacia may help, but the vitamin C and zinc probably will not (only zinc lozenges seem to work).

"Vitamins + water equals what is in your hand", says the label. Unlike other water, this one has 125 calories per bottle and in truth, is simply water, sugar and few vitamins and a lot of hype.

While this product certainly doesn't sound harmful, it also doesn't really give you a whole lot more than good old-fashioned water would outside of its flavorings. Eat a piece of fruit and you'll get the nutrients (and then some).
