Tasty Adult Beverage

This is a wonderful herbal beverage using the flowers of a herb but it is an adult beverage with the inclusion of brandy and sherry.

Ingredients

2 cups water, boiled
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons lemon peel
1/4 cup flowers (such as borage)
2 cups sherry
1 cup brandy
4 cups apple cider

Directions

Combine sugar, lemon peel, and flowers in a bowl.

Cover with boiling water and allow to stand 10 minutes; strain.

Add sherry, brandy and cider and enjoy.

The Celtic name borrach meant "courage" and the Welsh name translates into an "herb of gladness". In 1597, the herbalist, John Gerard, extolled the virtues of the herb and said that a syrup made from the flowers helped with depression.
