Apples have numerous health benefits.

Adults who eat apples, apple juice and applesauce have a significantly reduced risk of metabolic syndrome, a cluster of health problems that are linked to numerous chronic diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Recent studies on the consumption of apples leads researchers to note: "We found that adults who eat apples and apple products have smaller waistlines that indicate less abdominal fat, lower blood pressure and a reduced risk for developing what is known as the metabolic syndrome".

Apple Hot Toddy Recipe

Place 1-1/2 cup apple cider, 1 cinnamon stick and 1 whole star anise in a small saucepan over high heat. Bring to a simmer. Remove from heat. Add 2 tablespoons brandy and 1 tablespoon honey. Place 1/4 Fuji apple, cut into thin wedges, into 2 serving glasses. Pour over hot apple cider mixture. Serve immediately.

Tasty Treat. Dice up an apple and toss in 2 teaspoons of brown sugar and a dash of apple pie spices. Top with a sprinkle of oats. Then warm it all up in the microwave. Sweet!

Crunchy Apple Dippers. Apple wedges coated first with peanut butter then crisp rice cereal. Healthy snack or appetizer.

Star Trimming Tip: Eat fresh fruit instead of dried fruit or fruit juice whenever possible.
