Apple Cinnamon Waffles with Cider Syrup Recipe

Wake up your family with homemade apple cinnamon waffles. The rich cider syrup will say good morning.

Ingredients:
Cider Syrup (see below)
2-1/4 cups Original Bisquick mix
1-1/4 cups milk
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 egg
1/2 cup finely chopped peeled all-purpose apple

Directions:
Make Cider Syrup; keep warm.

Heat waffle iron; grease wth vegetable oil or shortening.

Stir remaining ingredients except apple in large bowl until blended. Stir in apple. Pour onto center of hot waffle iron. Close lid of waffle iron.

Bake about 5 minutes or until steaming stops. Carefully remove waffle. Serve with syrup.

Recipe Makes 12 squares (4 inches each).

Cider Syrup

Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons Original Bisquick mix
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 cups apple cider
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup butter or margarine

Apple Cinnamon Waffles with Cider Syrup

Stir together sugar, Bisquick and cinnamon in 2-quart saucepan. Stir in cider and lemon juice. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute; remove from heat. Stir in butter.

Note: Waffle irons are available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes. Check manufacturer's directions for the recommended amount of batter to use in your waffle iron.
