A versatile choice for all ... a great grand apple finale for a brunch or afternoon coffee break. Yet, it is sweet enough to feel like a proper dessert at the end of a delicious dinner. Spiced just right with cinnamon.
2-1/2 tablespoons minute tapioca
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 cups sliced apples
1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1-1/2 teaspoons butter, room temperature
Preheat oven to 425-degrees.
Mix tapioca, granulated sugar, salt and apples in bowl. Let sit five minutes. Place in unbaked pie shell.
Prepare crumb topping by mixing together brown sugar, flour, cinnamon and butter. Spread topping over apples.
Bake for 15 minutes at 425-degrees, reduce heat to 350-degrees and bake 25 to 30 minutes longer.
Recipe makes 8 servings.
