Apple Glazed Pork Roast Recipe

Like other fresh meat, fresh pork is naturally low in sodium. A 3 ounce serving has only about 60mg of sodium. A processed food is low-sodium if the sodium content is 140mg or less per serving.

Pork is a healthful meal option, with 14% fewer calories and 10 percent less cholesterol than 20 years ago. A 3 ounce pork chop as about 170 calories and 65 grams of cholesterol.

Ingredients:
2-3 pounds pork loin roast (boneless)
2 tablespoons flour
1 tablespoon caraway seed
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
2 cups applesauce
2 cups brown sugar

Directions:
Mix salt, pepper, caraway seed, and flour together and rub in to roast. Set on counter for 30 minutes.

Place in a 350-degree oven for 1 hour. Mix applesauce and brown sugar together and pour over the roast.

Continue baking for an additional one to one and a half-hours or until done.

Pork Chop Variation: Autumn Apple Chops

Ingredients:
Four, top loin pork chops
1 tablespoon flour
2 teaspoons butter
1/2 sliced onion
1 cup apple juice

Directions:
Season flour with a little salt and pepper; lightly flour pork chops and brown on one side in butter in a non stick skillet over medium heat. Turn chops; stir in onion and apple juice; bring to a boil, lower heat, cover and simmer for seven to eight minutes. Recipe makes four servings.
