Fired Up Applesauce Recipe

Apple

Ingredients:
2 cups unsweetened, plain applesauce
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1/2 teaspoon apple pie spice
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or more, to taste

Directions:
Pour applesauce into a 1-quart bowl. Stir in vinegar, apple pie spice and cayenne pepper.

Serve at once, or refrigerate until ready to serve.

Recipe makes four servings. Leftovers will keep up to four days if covered and refrigerated.

Fruit Sauce

Like apples with pineapples? Try this fruit sauce, too!

Ingredients:
One small can of pineapple bits
One orange
One apple
Juice of one lemon
1 cup sugar
1-1/2 cup water

Directions:
Drain juice from pineapple into a saucepan. Peel the orange, remove membrane and cut sections into three pieces each. Core, peel and dice the apple into one-fourth-inch pieces. Stir water; sugar and lemon juice into pineapple juice and bring to a boil. Add fruit (including pineapple) to boiling syrup. Reduce heat and simmer for ten minutes until thickened. Recipe serves eight.
