Nutty Apple Dip Recipe

Peanuts with their high energy content are rich in E and B complex vitamins: the minerals zinc, copper, magnesium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium and iron.They are also cholesterol free, containing polyunsaturated or "good" oils.

Ingredients:
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup applesauce
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped salted peanuts
3 apples, sliced

Directions:
Combine cream cheese, applesauce, brown sugar and vanilla and beat until well blended. Stir in peanuts.

Serve with apple slices. Refrigerate leftovers.

Yield: 2 cups.

Note: Add 1/4 cup of golden raisins if desired. Raisins are low in fat and sodium, but high in carbohydrates for a quick pick- me-up. One-quarter cup of dried uncooked raisins provides 1 serving from the fruit group of the Food Guide Pyramid.
