Tropical Cool Down Recipe

Milk

Ingredients:
1 cup fat free or lowfat milk
1/2 cup juice-packed pineapple bits
3 ounces plain or low sugar vanilla yogurt
1/8 teaspoon coconut/almond extract

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in blender, and blend until very smooth.

Recipe makes 1 serving, 8 ounces of milk per serving.

Bonus Recipe: Frosted Pineapple Smoothie

Ingredients:
3 cups buttermilk
One can (8 ounces) crushed pineapple with juice, chilled
1/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Five ice cubes
Fresh mint sprigs, optional

Directions:
In a blender container, combine buttermilk, pineapple, sugar and vanilla. Cover and blend for 30 seconds or until combined. With blender running, add ice cubes, one at a time, through opening in lid. Blend until mixture is frothy and nearly smooth. Pour into chilled glasses. If desired, garnish with a sprig of mint. Recipe serves six.

Ingredients:
2 cups chopped peeled seeded papaya (about one medium)
1 cup chilled pineapple juice
1/2 cup low-fat (1%) milk
1/2 cup sliced banana
Four ice cubes
1 tablespoon honey
2 teaspoons fresh lime juice

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in blender. Puree until smooth. Pour into 2 chilled tall glasses and serve. Recipe makes two drinks.
