Three ways to jazz up your next pitcher of lemonade:

  1. Add cranberry juice cocktail, to taste, for instant pink lemonade.
  2. Freeze lemonade in ice-cube trays. Pulse in a food processor, a few cubes at a time, then serve in frosted glasses for an old-fashioned soda fountain slush.
  3. Toss in a cup or two of frozen strawberries in place of ice to a pitcher of lemonade. The berries keep the lemonade cold and impart a wonderful color and flavor!

Bonus Recipe: Pimm's Cup

Having company or just in the mood for a beverage with a bit of "kick"? The fruity gin-based liquor Pimm's No. 1 Cup was created in 1840 by London oyster bar proprietor James Pimm. The Pimm's Cup cocktail is the quintessential British fair-weather quaff. It usually comes with a garnish of cucumber. Whether to serve the drink over ice is a matter of great debate, and your answer will depend on which side of the Atlantic you call home.

Ingredients:
Ice cubes
4 strawberries
4 lemon slices
4 lime slices
4 orange slices
12 tablespoons Pimm's No. 1 Cup*
2 cups chilled lemon-lime soda
4 cucumber wedges
4 fresh mint sprigs
*A blend of gin, liqueurs, and fruit extracts; available at some liquor stores and specialty foods stores.

Directions:
Fill four, 8- to 10-ounce glasses with ice cubes. Divide fruit among glasses. Pour 3 tablespoons Pimm's No. 1 Cup and 1/2-cup soda into each glass. Garnish with cucumber and mint. Recipe makes four servings.
