This is an excellent whole wheat raisin Boston Brown Bread recipe that needs few ingredients but has much nutrition.
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup molasses
1-1/2 cups buttermilk
2/3 cup raisins or currants
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
In a large bowl, stir together all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt.
Mix in molasses and buttermilk. Gently stir in raisins or currants.
Transfer batter into prepared loaf pan.
Bake for 1 hour, or until a tester inserted into the center of the loaf comes out clean.
Recipe makes 1 9-inch loaf.
