Apple Syrup

Cinnamon Nutmeg in Apple Syrup

This apple syrup is made using sugar substitute and spiced with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1-1/4 cup unsweetened apple juice
Sugar substitute equal to 4-teaspoons sugar

Directions

In a small saucepan, combine the cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg and apple juice until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for two minutes or until thickened.

Remove from the heat; stir in sugar substitute. Serve over pancakes and/or French Toast.

Bonus Recipe: Mom's Best Waffles

These are wonderful topped with the apple syrup.

2 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk
2 eggs
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

In a large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. Add milk, eggs and oil; mix well. Spray preheated waffle iron with non stick cooking spray. Pour mix onto hot waffle iron. Cook until golden brown. Makes 4 servings.
