Bittersweet Chocolate Sauce contains butter with unsweetened chocolate, cocoa, half and half and vanilla extract for added flavor.
1/4 cup butter
1-1/2 squares unsweetened chocolate, cut into pieces
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1/4 cup fat free half-and-half
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Heat butter and chocolate in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly, until smooth.
Stir in sugar, cocoa, half-and-half and salt. Heat slowly to boiling; do not stir.
Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Serve warm.
Recipe makes 1-1/2 cup.
When well wrapped and stored in a cool, dry place, unsweetened chocolate will keep for several years.
