Sweet, succulent, cinnamon spiced strawberries off the grill for a summer treat, or a delicious strawberry herb sauce for off-season. Both Grilled Strawberries and the sauce go well with non or low-fat frozen or regular yogurt.
1 cup white sugar
3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
2 pints strawberries
Place strawberries on wooden skewers and run under cold water. Shake off excess water.
Roll in sugar-cinnamon blend, Sprinkle on berries to get all strawberries covered.
Grill at medium-high heat approximately 90 seconds per side.
Recipe makes 2 cups.
Bonus: Strawberry Herb Sauce
1/2 cup strawberry preserves
1 tablespoon red wine vinegar
2 tablespoons chopped capers
1/2 teaspoon dried Italian herbs
1/2 teaspoon cracked pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
Combine all ingredients in small bowl; mix well. Spoon over grilled vegetables or use as marinade for chicken. Recipe makes six servings.
