Pears And Raspberry Jam
Healthy Jam, Jelly or Spread Recipe
According to the Environmental Working Group's 2009 report "Shopper's Guide to Pesticides," pears are among the 12 foods on which pesticide residues have been most frequently found. Therefore, to avoid pesticide-associated health risks, purchase organically grown pears for use in your jam.
Ingredients:
8 pears, peeled, cored
2/3 cup water
2 tablespoons raspberry jam
1 tablespoon butter
Directions
Boil the water with the butter. Dilute the jam with the mixture.
Put pears in a baking dish. Add the jam, water and butter mixture.
Bake in moderate oven for about 25 minutes, basting the pears occasionally.
Pear Tip: Did your pears become over-ripe? Peel, core and slice them, sprinkle with cinnamon and bake at 375-degrees until soft. Eat as is or spoon on some vanilla frozen yogurt and Grape- Nuts cereal.
