Last Word in Nutmeg Muffins

Ingredients:
2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1-1/2 whole nutmegs, grated
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 egg
3/4 cup heavy whipping cream
3/4 cup milk
5 tablespoons butter, melted

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Grease muffin tins.

In medium-size bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and salt.

In small bowl, beat egg well, then stir in cream, milk and butter and blend well. Add cream mixture to flour mixture and stir only until there are no streaks of flour. Be careful not to over-mix batter.

Fill each muffin cup two-thirds full. Bake about 20 minutes, or until rounded tops are lightly golden. Remove muffins from pan and serve warm.

Alternatively, cool muffins on a rack and store or freeze for later use; warm before serving.

Recipe makes 12 muffins.
