Upside Down Pizza Recipe
Healthy Pizza Recipe
Ingredients:
One pound Italian Sausage links
One can (10 ounces) pizza sauce
1/3 cup chopped onion
Green bell pepper, mushrooms, etc., for garnish as desired
Eight ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
Parmesan cheese to taste
One egg
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup milk
1 cup flour
Directions:
Steam, then brown sausage links. Slice into 1/4-inch coins.
Preheat oven to 400-degrees.
Arrange sausage coins in bottom of 8-by-8-inch baking pan. Pour pizza sauce over sausage. Sprinkle with onions and other vegetable toppings. Sprinkle cheese over vegetables. In bowl combine egg, oil and milk. Beat with a wire whisk. Incorporate flour and beat until smooth. Pour thick batter over cheeses.
Bake in preheated oven 30 minutes until top is golden. Remove from oven and let cool five minutes before slicing and serving. Recipe makes 16 servings Upside Down Pizza.
Note: This dish keeps well in the refrigerator.
Variation: You can double this recipe. Use a 13-by-9-inch pan. You can also substitute hot Italian sausage for the regular Italian sausage.
