Easy to whip together, Smoked Turkey and Cranberry Gourmet Pizza is healthy to eat and satisfying enough for a main dish.
1 16-ounce pre-cooked Italian bread shell
1 16-ounce can whole berry cranberry sauce
3/4 cup sliced green onion, white and green parts
1 8-ounce package shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1/4 pound smoked deli-turkey breast, cut into thin strips
Preheat oven to 375-degrees.
Place bread shell on an ungreased baking pan.
Spread cranberry sauce evenly over bread shell. Sprinkle with green onion and cheese. Top with turkey.
Bake for ten minutes or until heated through and cheese has melted.
Recipe makes 1 large pizza.
Bonus Budget Recipe: Pizza Turkey Burgers
When you can't decide on pizza or burgers for dinner, combine the flavors of two favorites in these tasty family pleasing turkey burgers.
1 pound ground turkey
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground oregano
1/4 teaspoon black pepper, ground
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup pizza sauce or tomato sauce
1/3 cup shredded Mozzarella cheese
Lettuce or spinach (optional)
4 hamburger rolls
Mix ground turkey and seasonings in medium bowl until well blended. Shape into 4 patties.
Grill over medium heat 4 to 6 minutes per side or until burgers are cooked through (internal temperature of 165 degrees). Add pizza sauce and cheese to burgers 1 minute before cooking is completed. Toast rolls on the grill, open-side down, about 30 seconds. Serve burgers on toasted rolls topped with lettuce or spinach, if desired.
Tip: Try also with chicken (rotisserie is very good!) in either version. Makes 4 servings.
