Whip up these delicious Pizza Puffs with refrigerated pizza dough cut into circular slices and topped with sauce, mozzarella or Cheddar cheese and pepperoni.
1 10-ounce can refrigerated pizza dough
1/4 cup pizza sauce
1 cup part skim mozzarella or Cheddar cheese
1 green bell pepper, chopped or cut into 1-inch or so slices
12 to 14 slices pepperoni (optional)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Roll out pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/8-inch thickness. Using a round cookie cutter or glass 3-inches in diameter, cut circles of dough. (re-roll leftover dough).
Place 1/2 teaspoon of pizza sauce in the center of each circle - do not spread. Top with pieces of your chopped green bell pepper, a slice (or two if desired!) of pepperoni and 1 teaspoon of cheese. Wrap dough around filling and pinch shut. Place seam side down on a greased cookie sheet. Brush tops lightly with water or an egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water).
Bake for 15 to 17 minutes until lightly browned. Serve warm. To reheat, place on medium heat in microwave oven for about 5 seconds per puff.
