Healthy Whole Grain Recipe

Ingredients:
4 tablespoons margarine or butter
2 cups diced celery
1 cup chopped onion
8 cups bread cubes, dried from whole wheat bread
2 tablespoons chopped fresh or dried parsley
1/4 cup sliced mushrooms
1 teaspoon ground sage
3/4 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1 teaspoon black pepper
3 cups broth, chicken or turkey

Directions:

Toast bread cubes and set aside for later use.

Melt margarine or butter in medium size fry pan.

Add celery and onion; cook until tender, about 10 minutes.

Knead dough on lightly floured surface until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.

Add parsley, mushrooms, seasoning and broth. Cook for 5 minutes.

Remove from heat and add the toasted bread cubes. Cover and let stand 10 minutes. Serve immediately.

Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours.

Serving Size: 1/10 of recipe. Recipe yields 10 servings of Old Fashioned Dressing.
