Herbed Steak with Grilled Peppers

Tender Herbed Steak with Grilled Peppers flavored with herbs of basil, thyme, oregano, cracked black pepper and cayenne pepper.


2 teaspoons cracked black pepper
2 teaspoons dried basil
1 teaspoon dried thymebr> 1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon coarse salt (optional)
Dash of cayenne pepper (see note)
4 T-bone steaks, 1 to 1-1/4-inches thick
3 bell peppers; 1 red, 1 green and one yellow, seeded and quartered
Olive Oil


In a small jar, combine all dry seasonings. Generously rub seasoning mix over both sides of steak. Place on a platter, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate several hours or overnight.

Preheat the grill to high. While the grill is heating, remove steaks from refrigerator and brush the peppers with oil. Grill steaks and pepper directly over coals until desired doneness and peppers are tender. If peppers are tender before the steaks are, remove to a platter and cover with foil. Recipe makes four servings.

Recipe Note

For those who enjoy a hot and spicy steak, add 1/4 teaspoon jalapeno to the seasoning mix.
