Apples and Cream Shake

Apple for Apples and Cream Shake

Apples and Cream Shake with vanilla ice cream, applesauce, spices and skim milk to make a healthful and creamy beverage.


2 cups vanilla low-fat ice cream
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 cup fat free or 1 percent low fat milk
1/4 teaspoon ground ground cinnamon (optional)


In a blender container combine low-fat ice cream, applesauce, and the 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon or apple pie spice.

Cover and blend until smooth. Add fat free skim or 1-percent lowfat milk. Cover and blend until just mixed.

Pour into glasses. If desired, sprinkle each serving with additional cinnamon. Serve immediately.

Bonus Recipe: Apple Pie Spice Mix

1/4 cup ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon ground allspice
2 teaspoons ground nutmeg*
2 teaspoons ground ginger
1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom (optional)

Combine all ingredients for desired mix and blend well. Store in a small, airtight container. Feel free to experiment with amounts to get a blend that works for you.

*Note: If using fresh ground nutmeg, use a bit less until you find the amount that suits your taste. Nutmeg is quite potent.
