Peppermint not only tastes great, but it is considered a general stimulant, cleansing and strengthening your entire body. Recent research has highlighted this herb as an aid for the bowels. Peppermint leaves contain a volatile oil that is composed of 50-78 percent free menthol and 5-20 percent menthol combined with other constituents. It is this oil that has been clinically shown to ease intestinal cramping, tone the digestive system, and treat gas and indigestion.
