Low Fat Fudge Sundaes

Cocoa powder for Low Fat Fudge Sundaes

Low Fat Fudge Sundaes are a rich treat that will satisfy an after dinner urge for something sweet and supply your family with an extra serving of calcium -- without extra fat.


1/2 cup light corn syrup
1/3 cup sugar
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/4 cup buttermilk
Pinch of salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pint frozen low fat or nonfat yogurt (use one flavor or several different ones)
Fresh fruit and mint (optional)


Combine the corn syrup, sugar, cocoa, butttermilk and salt in a large heavy saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

Reduce heat to medium-low and boil for 8 minutes or until the mixture coats the back of a spoon. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla.

Scoop the yogurt into dessert bowls and pour warm sauce on top. Garnish with fruit and mint.
