Michigan Sauce

Chili Dog with Michigan Sauce

This beefy Michigan Sauce freezes well. Some say it tastes even better when thawed.


2 pounds ground beef
4 teaspoons chili powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
2 8-ounce cans tomato sauce
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon onion powder


Add all ingredients in a large pan.

NOTE: Do not brown the ground beef before adding the other ingredients.

Bring ingredients to a boil over a medium high heat, stirring often to keep from burning.

Turn heat to low and simmer as you would for a good spaghetti sauce.

Serve on top of a hot dog on a bun with mustard and diced onions.

You can also serve this tasty sauce with just the hot dog bun. This is called a sauce burger.

Note: This sauces freezes very well. In fact, many feel it tastes even better after it's been frozen and thawed.
