This needs to be prepared ahead due to the marination; however, it is well well worth the wait! This special blend of flavors include mustard seed and turmeric. Cabbage in vinegar creates the main body of the Marinated Coleslaw.
1 large head cabbage, shredded
2 green peppers, finely chopped
3 medium onions, finely chopped
1-1/3 cup vinegar
2-1/2 cups sugar
2/3 cup water
1-1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
Combine cabbage, green pepper and onion in a large bowl; set aside.
Combine remaining ingredients in a medium saucepan, mixing well. Bring to a boil; immediately pour over vegetables. Cover and chill twelve hours, stirring occasionally.
Note: This slaw needs to be prepared ahead of time.
