Grog with Lemon Garnish

Grog with lemon juice with a bit of sugar syrup, a jigger of heavy-bodied rum and hot tea make up this grog recipe. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or a twist of lemon.


1 jigger heavy bodied rum
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon sugar syrup
Hot tea
Garnish: Cinnamon stick or a twist of lemon


For each drink, pour rum into a mug or highball glass.

Stir in lemon juice and sugar syrup.

Fill the glass with hot tea.

Serve immediately, garnished with a cinnamon stick or twist of lemon.

Noteable Note: The word grog refers to a whole variety of beverages containing alcohol. Originally, the word 'grog' referred to a drink made with water or what was known as "small beer" (weak). Look into grog futher, and you discover that water and rum mixed together was often called Grog.
